Importance of low Glycemic Index (GI) food

A food with a lower GI contains starches and sugars that are more slowly digested and absorbed, or less glycaemic by nature such as fructose. The GI of single foods are reliably predicted through their relative ranking of postprandial glycaemic and insulinemic responses to mixed meals.

Makanan dengan nilai GI yang lebih rendah mempunyai kandungan gula atau kanji daripada jenis yang dicerna atau diserap pada kadar lebih lambat, atau sumber yang kurang glisemik secara semula jadi seperti fruktosa.
